Laurine Malengreau
Wool & silk
Laurine Malengreau comes from a generation of contemporary textile artists inspired by the rich heritage of the French Aubusson region.

Inspired by historical crafts and ancient traditions, Malengreau’s practice explores the Nuno silk technique – an ancient felting tradition with roots in Central Asia.

True to this traditional technique, Malengreau blends natural wool, mohair, merino fibres and silk by hand. Through a gentle washing process, the wool fibres open and become meshed with the silk, transforming the separate raw materials into one lightweight non-woven fabric.
