Jaehyo Lee, a Korean artist with a BFA from Hong-Ik University, has garnered international acclaim through numerous exhibitions and awards including the Osaka Triennial Grand Prize (1998). Lee’s biomorphic sculptures see everyday materials transformed into ethereal sculptures.

Whether the final context is an interior space or an outdoor public space, deep within each of Lee’s artworks is an inherent questioning of the roots of sculptural form, its function and its role in the natural world.

Fundamental to the artist’s process is an intuitive response to natural materials. Allowing his hand to be guided by the essence of his chosen medium, he demonstrates an acute awareness of the human desire to control and manipulate.

Unmistakeable in Lee’s art is his imaginative approach to the multifaceted potential of raw materials, and a belief that art is a product of labour and meticulous craft.

Recognition & Awards

Lee, a leading Asian artist, exhibits solo worldwide, including London, New York, Mexico, and Japan. Group exhibits include Saatchi Gallery and Triennale di Milano. His work is in permanent collections at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (Korea) and Cornell University Museum (USA). Hotels like Park Hyatt and Marriott have commissioned him in Switzerland, Australia, China, and the UAE. He has also completed public art projects at the EMAAR Building in Dubai and the Bank of Taiwan.
