Ewan David Eason

About

Ewan David Eason, a British artist, uses printmaking and gilding techniques to transform ordinary maps into extraordinary visions. A Bath Spa University graduate, Eason's work has been showcased globally, with sales at Christie’s and the Royal Academy.

Printmaking & gold leaf

Ewan David Eason’s artistic vantage point on the world is from above. Looking down as if from a high altitude, Eason analyses and meticulously untangles the web of geographical information within maps.

Often focussing on iconic world cities and sprawling metropolises, Eason interprets cityscapes through printmaking and gilding.

The use of gold leaf and other precious metals draw reference to the ancient world and the sacred nature of civilisations. Partly art-as-documentation, Eason’s work ultimately transcends the reality of factual information to become a record within a timeless and abstract realm.
